Moving can be a costly and stressful experience. The moving tips below can help you save money when hiring a moving company as well as make your move go more smoothly.
1.) Get rid of items that you no longer use and have been storing for a long period of time, especially if the items bulky. Consider having a garage sale sell structured insurance settlements donating these items. Often the cost of packing and moving these items is greater than their value. If you have furniture that is quite old and in poor condition, it may make more sense to apply the money you save by not moving these items towards the purchase of new furniture.

Adding to the excitement or nervousness of moving is the dilemma of packing. Mankind, being pack rats, tends to gather a lot of clutter over the years –things of use, of sentimental value, gifts, brick-a brack, and family heirlooms. Some are treasured while others tolerated. When the time comes to move there are hard and heartrending decisions to make. Determine how much you are allowed to take with you. Find out the floor space in your new home. Be practical and:
• Make a list of “must haves.”
• Arrange to put all other things in storage or have an auction or garage sale.
• Put aside things you want to give to charity.
• Disconnect, clean, and repair appliances a week before packers arrive.
• Make arrangements to transport plants and pets or find new homes for them. Most packers will not transport plants and pets. You will need to take them by car, train, or plane to your new destination.

Moving house is exciting. It’s also potentially nerve-wracking. There is a lot to think about and do. Rentoid wants you to have a smooth and hitch-free experience. So we’ve prepared some handy tips to help you out
Lighten your load.
Get rid of unwanted items that have been stockpiling in the garage for years. Have a garage sale (don’t forget to get the local council’s permission first) and “clean up” in more ways than one! If there’s still stuff left over, make a donation to a local charity or throw away the worthless things. Wipe out cupboards and dust as you go to save time on cleaning once everything is out of your home.

Marking system: We have found the color-code method successful. Purchase packs of different colored dots (the kind with a self-adhesive) at a local variety store and make a color chart. One color represents one dollar, another 50 cents, and so on. Place the appropriate color sticker on your items. You can us blank stickers for other prices. This whole marketing procedure is much easier than you think. Save plastic and brown bags from stores for customers to use for their (large) purchases.

House Plants: Plants add color to your sale and are popular purchases. If you have a large number of plant containers to sell, buy an economical flat of flowering plants and put one plant in each container. This will make the container more attractive to your customer. If you are moving to a long distance or flying to your next destination, you can sell your house plants.

Salable items: Jewelry, furniture, lamps, tools, small (and large) appliances, books, records, games, puzzles, toys, and sports equipment usually sell well. Basically, mark and display anything that you cannot use. the item may sell. Clothing in general does not move quickly, with the exception of jeans, jackets, scarves, belts, and unusual apparel such as college sweatshirts or team shirts. Mark each item with a size to encourage interest.
